The 101FCD compression driver is a very high performance, high frequency device ideal for compact professional loudspeaker systems. The driver ferrite based magnetic circuit provides precision control over Polyamide diaphragm assembly. The unit delivers extended frequency response and high power handling throughout 1.0 inch exit throat. The diaphragm is carefully attached to a high temperature Nomex voice coil former that can withstand the long term power handling characteristic typically seen in professional audio applications. REDCATT uses state of the art adhesives in all assembly steps. Our voice coil to dome bonding is unique process, developed to greatly improve the power handling capabilities. REDCATT unique and precise adhesives dispensing, combined with our in-house developed dome treatments are further improving the long term reliability of this product.

The 101FCDX8-539A is a 1-inch ferrite compression driver rated at 20 W AES (40 W continuous) into a nominal 8-ohm load. Sensitivity is 109 dB (1 W/1 m), placing it among the highest-sensitivity drivers in the 1-inch compression driver category and delivering very high acoustic output with moderate amplifier power. With a free-air resonance of 2,000 Hz and a 25 mm horn exit, this driver is compatible with standard 1-inch horn and waveguide systems. The polyimide diaphragm with ferrite motor provides a rugged, cost-effective assembly well suited to budget-conscious 2-way PA designs requiring high SPL.

The frequency response is usable from approximately 1,500 Hz with horn loading, rising rapidly to a very flat plateau of 105-110 dB maintained from approximately 2 kHz to 15 kHz, followed by a gradual rolloff above 16 kHz. The flat passband sensitivity of 109 dB is consistent and predictable across a wide range of horn geometries. The impedance peak at Fs (2,000 Hz) and the secondary horn cavity resonance are both clearly defined.

The driver is rated for 20 W AES and is suited for cost-effective 2-way PA top cabinets and column PA systems. A crossover frequency of 1,500-2,500 Hz (18-24 dB/octave high-pass) is recommended, applied at or above the horn-loaded lower operating frequency. The 25 mm exit is compatible with standard 1-inch family horns. Good to use with 8-12-inch professional woofers such as 8FINDX8-030, 81NPMX8-373A, 101NPMX8-119, or 12NPMX8-054 in 2-way PA top and portable speaker designs.

The 101FCDX8-539A is suited for 2-way PA top cabinets, portable column PA systems, and commercial installation products where high sensitivity, straightforward 1-inch horn compatibility, and cost-effective ferrite motor construction are the primary compression driver selection criteria.
