Professional Subwoofer Drivers

REDCATT subwoofer drivers are high-excursion low-frequency transducers for bass cabinets in touring, club, cinema and installed-sound systems. The range covers 10 models from 5 to 21 inches with AES power ratings up to 1800 W, built around large-diameter voice coils, high-flux neodymium or ferrite motors, and suspensions engineered for long linear travel.

REDCATT professional subwoofer drivers

Subwoofer drivers are optimised for output below about 100 Hz: long Xmax, low Fs, a stiff cone and a motor with the Bl to control it. Every model is published with its complete T/S parameter set and a simulated enclosure recommendation so a bass cabinet can be designed before a sample is ordered.

Subwoofers specifications at a glance

Key figures for every model in this category. AES power is the two-hour AES2-1984 rating; programme power is twice and peak four times that figure. Complete Thiele/Small data, drawings and CAD are on each product page.

How to choose professional subwoofer drivers

Displacement is the number that matters

Maximum output at low frequencies is set by cone area times Xmax. Compare Sd and Xmax across the spec table on this page before comparing power ratings; a driver with more linear excursion will play louder at 40 Hz on the same amplifier.

Vented, band-pass or horn

Subwoofer drivers with Qts around 0.3 and moderate Vas work well in vented and band-pass boxes; very low Qts and high Bl point towards horn-loaded designs. The enclosure recommendation on each product page is a simulated starting point.

Power handling and thermal design

The AES rating is the two-hour continuous figure. Large voice coils, vented pole pieces and aluminium demodulation rings are used across the range to reduce power compression during a full show.

Neodymium for flown and portable systems

A neodymium subwoofer driver weighs roughly half of its ferrite equivalent, which matters for flown arrays and portable rigs; ferrite remains the cost-effective choice for ground-stacked and installed cabinets.

Typical applications

  • Touring and rental subwoofer cabinets
  • Club, bar and DJ subwoofers
  • Cinema LFE and installed bass systems
  • Portable powered subwoofers
  • OEM bass cabinet programmes

Engineering data for every model

Full Thiele/Small parameters, frequency-response and impedance plots, datasheet PDF, 2D drawing and 3D STEP model on each product page, and the same data as JSON from the product API.

Custom professional subwoofer drivers for OEM and ODM programmes

Every driver on this page can be adapted for an OEM programme at REDCATT's own factory in Dongguan: impedance, voice coil, cone or diaphragm, surround, motor and frame changes, or a new design built to a target specification. Standard catalog drivers have a minimum order quantity of 1 piece; custom and OEM MOQs are flexible, starting at 100 pieces, with quantity-tiered pricing; production lead time is 45 calendar days.

Tooling and NRE apply to custom developments that need dedicated tools. The range is wide: simple tools can cost as little as a few tens of dollars, while complex injection tools can exceed $50,000. NRE charges are refunded against placed production orders.

Subwoofers questions

What is the largest subwoofer driver REDCATT makes?

The largest subwoofer drivers in the catalog are 21 inches, alongside 18-inch, 15-inch and smaller models for compact bass cabinets. All 10 are listed on this page.

How much power can the subwoofer drivers handle?

Power handling ranges from 30 W to 1800 W AES across the range. Programme power is twice the AES figure and peak power four times, which is the convention used on every REDCATT datasheet.

Do you publish enclosure recommendations?

Yes. Each product page carries a simulated vented-box recommendation and the full Thiele/Small data set. We recommend confirming volume and tuning in a simulator and with samples before tooling a cabinet.

Can I get a custom subwoofer driver?

Yes. Motor strength, voice-coil diameter, impedance, cone and suspension can all be tuned for an OEM programme, with an MOQ that is flexible, starting at 100 pieces, with quantity-tiered pricing and tooling refunded against production orders.
