Neodymium Loudspeaker Drivers
REDCATT neodymium drivers use rare-earth magnet motors that deliver the same flux as a ferrite motor at roughly half the weight, which matters for line-array elements, flown systems, portable powered loudspeakers and any product that is carried, hung or shipped in volume. The catalog includes 51 neodymium models from 0.6-inch tweeters and compression drivers to 21-inch subwoofers, with AES power ratings up to 1800 W.

How to choose neodymium drivers
Weight where it counts
Compare the net weight column in the spec table on this page with the ferrite equivalents in the same size; in a flown array of many boxes the saving compounds.
Thermal design
Neodymium loses flux when hot, so motor cooling is part of the design. Vented pole pieces and large voice coils keep the magnet within its working temperature.
Cost and supply
Rare-earth pricing moves with the commodity market; for high-volume installed-sound and OEM products where weight is not critical, a ferrite equivalent may be the better commercial choice. Both options exist across most of the range.
Same data, same process
Neodymium and ferrite drivers share the same published data set, the same sampling process and the same three-year limited warranty.
Typical applications
- Line-array and flown loudspeaker systems
- Portable powered PA and column speakers
- Touring subwoofers
- Compact stage monitors
- OEM programmes where shipping weight matters
Engineering data for every model
Full Thiele/Small parameters, frequency-response and impedance plots, datasheet PDF, 2D drawing and 3D STEP model on each product page, and the same data as JSON from the product API.
Independently tested neodymium drivers
2 of the 51 drivers on this page have been measured or reviewed by independent publications. Metadata and links only; REDCATT does not publish ratings it did not earn. See all coverage on the reviews page.
Custom neodymium drivers for OEM and ODM programmes
Every driver on this page can be adapted for an OEM programme at REDCATT's own factory in Dongguan: impedance, voice coil, cone or diaphragm, surround, motor and frame changes, or a new design built to a target specification. Standard catalog drivers have a minimum order quantity of 1 piece; custom and OEM MOQs are flexible, starting at 100 pieces, with quantity-tiered pricing; production lead time is 45 calendar days.
Tooling and NRE apply to custom developments that need dedicated tools. The range is wide: simple tools can cost as little as a few tens of dollars, while complex injection tools can exceed $50,000. NRE charges are refunded against placed production orders.
Quality and warranty
- - ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 certified quality system.
- - Every unit measured end-of-line; see the production consistency report.
- - Three-year limited warranty.
Neodymium questions
Why choose a neodymium driver over ferrite?
Weight and size. A neodymium motor gives the same flux at roughly half the weight and in a more compact package, which matters for flown, portable and shipped-in-volume products. Ferrite remains the cost-effective choice where weight does not matter.
Which neodymium drivers does REDCATT make?
The catalog includes 51 neodymium models: woofers, subwoofers, mid-woofers, full-range drivers, compression drivers and tweeters from 0.6 to 21 inches, all listed on this page.
Do neodymium drivers lose performance when hot?
Neodymium flux falls with temperature, so the motors are designed with vented pole pieces and large voice coils to manage heat. The AES power ratings are measured over two hours to account for this.
Can I get a ferrite version of a neodymium driver?
In many sizes a ferrite equivalent already exists in the catalog; where it does not, one can be developed through the OEM/ODM process with an MOQ that is flexible, starting at 100 pieces, with quantity-tiered pricing.
