Professional Compression Drivers

REDCATT compression drivers are high-frequency transducers for horn- and waveguide-loaded PA loudspeakers, line arrays, stage monitors and installed-sound systems. The range covers 19 models from 0.75-inch to 3-inch nominal size, with horn exits from 19 mm (0.75-inch) to 48 mm (1.9-inch), AES power ratings up to 110 W, and neodymium (9) or ferrite (10) motors.

REDCATT professional compression drivers

Diaphragm material sets the character: titanium for output and extension, polymer (polyimide or PET) for smoothness and durability at moderate power. Voice-coil diameters from 19 mm to 76 mm determine power handling and the lowest usable crossover frequency. Frequency response on a reference horn and impedance plots are published for every model.

How to choose professional compression drivers

Exit size sets the crossover

A 1-inch (25 mm) exit driver typically crosses at 1.6 kHz or higher; larger exits with 45 mm and 76 mm coils can be crossed at 800 to 1,200 Hz to a 12-inch or 15-inch woofer. Match the exit to the horn throat you intend to use; the exit diameter is on every product page.

Diaphragm material

Titanium diaphragms give the highest output and extension for touring use; polymer diaphragms are smoother, tolerate abuse well and suit installed and portable systems. Both are listed in the spec table on this page.

Power handling above the crossover

The AES rating of a compression driver is measured with a high-pass filter at the recommended crossover. Crossing lower than recommended reduces power handling sharply.

Neodymium or ferrite

Neodymium compression drivers are lighter and more compact, which matters in line-array elements; ferrite drivers are cost-effective for installed sound and high-volume OEM products.

Custom professional compression drivers for OEM and ODM programmes

Every driver on this page can be adapted for an OEM programme at REDCATT's own factory in Dongguan: impedance, voice coil, cone or diaphragm, surround, motor and frame changes, or a new design built to a target specification. Standard catalog drivers have a minimum order quantity of 1 piece; custom and OEM MOQs are flexible, starting at 100 pieces, with quantity-tiered pricing; production lead time is 45 calendar days.

Tooling and NRE apply to custom developments that need dedicated tools. The range is wide: simple tools can cost as little as a few tens of dollars, while complex injection tools can exceed $50,000. NRE charges are refunded against placed production orders.

Which exit sizes are available?

REDCATT compression drivers are offered with horn exits from 19 mm (0.75-inch) to 48 mm (1.9-inch) and voice coils from 19 mm to 76 mm (3-inch), in nominal sizes from 0.75 to 3 inches. All 19 models are listed in the table on this page.

What diaphragm materials are used?

Titanium and polymer (polyimide, PET) diaphragms are used across the range; the material is shown for each model in the spec table and on the product page.

What crossover frequency should I use?

The recommended minimum crossover frequency is stated on each product datasheet. As a rule, 1-inch drivers cross at 1.6 kHz or above and larger drivers with 76 mm coils can be crossed from about 800 Hz.

Can REDCATT develop a custom compression driver?

Yes. Exit, diaphragm, coil, impedance and motor variations are all handled through the OEM/ODM process with an MOQ that is flexible, starting at 100 pieces, with quantity-tiered pricing and tooling refunded against production orders.
